What is a Community of Practice?
A group of professionals who share a concern or passion about a practice topic and who wish to learn how to improve this area of practice by communicating and collaborating with each other regularly over time. Communities of practice are examples of reflective practice and collaborative inquiry.
In a community of practice, Early Learning Professionals come together to discuss, learn and strategize ways in which to better understand or advance a shared passion as a group and as individuals in daily practice. The voices and perspectives of all members are reflected in the work of a community of practice. (College of ECE’s CPL Resource, Communities of Practice August 2018)
The Early Learning Professionals Oxford Committee is excited to host various Communities of Practice to bring together Early Learning Professionals in Oxford County to have conversations and reflective inquiry around a variety of topics. These Communities of Practice will have facilitators to help guide the conversations, but the topics and discussions will be led by the group. Participants are encouraged to come prepared to share their thoughts, ideas and resources with the group.
Each Community of Practice will be scheduled to come together multiple times per year, with the frequency and times determined by the group.
We invite you to join as many of these opportunities as you would like. We look forward to learning with and from you. Please visit the Professional Learning Calendar to register.
